Moving weaknesses to strengths

I love saying the phrase "This is not my first rodeo" ha ha. I've had a few businesses over the years now, and each one has taught me something different. I've grown in my business skills more each time, but the best thing I've learnt each time is that you can turn any weakness within your business into a strength. All you need is some strategic and creative thinking, and a community of people to call on.

I regularly take stock of what my strengths and weaknesses are so that I can take action. Last year, while receiving some coaching, it became very clear to me that social media marketing was one of my biggest weaknesses. Providing a social media marketing service to my tradie customers was really important to me, it's an incredibly useful tool for reaching their customers. But, even though I had all the ideas and I knew what I wanted to do, I just couldn't create the posts and make them look attractive. I'll never be a graphic designer, and I'm ok with that!

So, I called on my community. I spoke to a few trusted people that have growth mindsets and I asked them for their advice. While nutting out various options, I said that what I really need is a social media genius that I can hire, then I can say what I want, and they will go ahead and create it for my customers. Well, the business genie was listening because almost immediately, someone in my network referred Laura Grisedale to me. She's currently studying Marketing at University and particularly loves the use of social media as a marketing tool. Laura immediately turned this part of my business around with me. We work incredibly well together, bounce ideas off each other, learn together and we get excited about organic reach together!

Now, after about 9 months, social media has become one of the major strengths of my business. I've now had around 6 people referred to me specifically to have social media taken care of. I'm so glad to have Laura on my team, and it's just one more example of how you can turn a weakness into a strength if you get your head together with your community!
